Revolut Set to Launch Crypto Services in UAE After Regulatory Green Light

Revolut has taken a significant step toward bringing cryptocurrency services to the United Arab Emirates after securing in-principle approval from the country’s financial regulators. The digital banking giant, which already serves millions of customers across Europe and the UK, is now poised to offer crypto buying, selling, and custody to users in one of the Middle East’s most dynamic markets.

A Strategic Move Into the Gulf

The approval, granted by the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Financial Services Regulatory Authority, allows Revolut to proceed with the final stages of its licensing process. The company plans to roll out services later this year, targeting both retail and institutional clients. “The UAE has established itself as a forward-thinking hub for digital assets,” a Revolut spokesperson said in a statement.

Revolut’s entry comes as the UAE aggressively courts crypto businesses with a clear regulatory framework. The country’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), alongside ADGM, has issued licenses to exchanges like Binance and Crypto.com, signaling a commitment to fostering innovation while maintaining investor protections.

Key Features of the Planned Service

  • Spot trading of major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum
  • Custodial wallets with insurance coverage for digital assets
  • Integration with Revolut’s existing banking app for seamless fiat-to-crypto conversions

Industry analysts see this as a validation of the UAE’s approach. “Revolut’s decision to enter the market after receiving regulatory approval shows that clear rules attract major players,” said a Dubai-based fintech consultant. “It’s a win-win for consumers who want access to trusted, regulated services.”

The move also highlights a broader trend of traditional finance firms embracing digital assets. Revolut joins Goldman Sachs and Fidelity in offering crypto services in the region, though its retail-focused model could draw a larger user base. The company has not yet announced a specific launch date but expects to begin onboarding customers in the coming months.
